Catrina Coverdale & Cory Vanallen
Friends Know Best |
Catrina, a Sr. Research Compliance Specialist at UTHealth, and Cory, a professional baseball player, had mutual high school friends but their paths never crossed. When they met at one of their friend’s birthday party, they knew they were meant to be together. Cory’s a left hand pitcher and needed a right hand woman. They got engaged nine months later at the museum.
Catrina’s mother suggested Safari Texas Ranch in Richmond, TX for the ceremony and Catrina and Cory fell in love with the rose Chapel on the property. Catrina walked down the aisle in a beautiful trumpet gown by Matthew Christopher. The six tier, three-flavor cake was topped with original art of their new family, bride, groom and dogs, and was created by Gwen Barba of the Concarta Design Studio in Los Angeles, Ca. In place of the traditional guestbook, ten of their favorite albums were signed; they are now framed and hanging on a wall in their home. They honeymooned at Matachica Beach Resort on Ambergris Caye, Belize.
Catrina's Advice
"Allocate more of your budget to photos and video. If you were not planning on getting wedding videographers, think again. Also, put your funds toward a wedding day coordinator. Enjoy yourself and focus your attention on yourself and your fiancé/spouse. You must mentally check out the morning of your wedding and let someone tell you what to do and where to be so you can be in the moment at all times. I was able to have meaningful conversations with my best friends and family as well as my new husband. Don’t sweat all the small stuff, just do it and be done with it the week before the wedding day!"
